Scholarship Opportunities, Taiwan
New scholarships available for US
scholars, Post-docs, MA students, Distinguished Teachers, and English teachers
Taipei, Taiwan. Scholars, postdocs,
language teachers, students, and professionals who plans to visit East Asia now
have a new destination with a strong and vibrant research community, a clean
and convenient living environment, and open-minded, friendly people. The
Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (FSE) hosts the prestigious Fulbright Taiwan Scholarship
Program and is ready to assist you in your next innovative idea.
Four new scholarships
and up to 20 additional seats, a total of up to 95, are now available.

Adding to the strong humanities and social
science focus, the new “Cross-strait Studies Scholarship” supports researchers
who focus on contemporary topics for mainland China and Taiwan, a maximum of
USD 105,500 will be awarded for each scholar.[1]

The new “Postdoc Scholarship” supports
up to 6 grantees who plan to work with Taiwan academic institutions.
l
The new “MA Degree Scholarship” supports
graduate students interested in International Studies, Communications, Design,
or Agricultural Economics, with tuition waiver, round trip airfare, and monthly
allowance. These MA programs are taught in English.
l
A Distinguished Teacher Award for K-12
scholars will bring two experienced teachers to Taiwan for a semester to study,
undertake a project, and provide classroom expertise.
l
For college graduates who are eager to explore
a different culture, the English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Program will host
up to 15 additional ETAs for a total of 78.

About the Foundation for
Scholarly Exchange (FSE)
FSE
(Fulbright Taiwan) is one of approximately 50 bi-national/bilateral
organizations in the world established to administer the Fulbright educational
exchange program outside the U.S. Over the past 50 years, the Foundation has
financed over 1,600 Taiwan Fulbright grantees to the U.S. and more than 1,300
U.S. Fulbright grantees to Taiwan.
Taiwan’s
Fulbright Program receives support from U.S. government through the American
Institute in Taiwan (AIT) and the U.S. Department of State (DOS), and from the Taiwanese
government through the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education (MOFA) (MOE)
and the local governments of Yilan, Kaohsiung, Kinmen, Taichung, Taipei, and
Taitung. Founded in 1947 in Nanjing, suspended until 1957 and restarted,
formalized in 1964, and renamed in 1979 FSE’s role is the facilitator for all
Fulbright programs in Taiwan. It operates under a broad mandate to promote a
“world of a little more knowledge and a little less conflict,” through the
medium of international exchange. FSE’s Board of Directors includes 5 American
members and 5 Taiwan members who are the governing body for this legal,
international non-profit entity.
About the Fulbright Program
The
Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program
sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual
understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other
countries. Fulbright offers approximately 8,000 competitive, merit-based grants
annually for Students, Scholars, Teachers, Professionals, and Groups. Grants
are available for U.S. citizens to go to abroad and for non-U.S. citizens to
come to the U.S.

傅爾布萊特獎學金額度增加並增設新獎項
臺美學術交流的新哩程
(臺北,台灣) 在物價飛漲的年代,學術交流基金會(Fulbright
Taiwan)董事會決定大幅提高傅爾布萊特獎學金額度來因應這個大趨勢。這項決策將提高台灣赴美攻讀博士學生與研究學者的獎助金額。

攻讀博士學位學生獎學金:提供1名全額獎助,最多新台幣150萬元(美金50,000元)。另有12名部分獎助,每位新台幣45萬元(美金15,000元)

資深學者獎助金:提供1名全額獎助,最多新台幣120萬元(美金40,000元)。另有25位部分獎助,每名新台幣45萬元(美金15,000元)
除了獎助金額提高外,基金會亦增設多樣新獎項,包括:

早期療育與老人健康促進是台灣社會福利的重要趨勢。為充實這兩大領域專家學者的知識交流與建構機制,學術交流基金會與深耕早期療育與老人健康促進領域多年的台塑集團共同成立全新獎學金項目:「傅爾布萊特-台塑關係企業獎助學金」。

學術交流基金會與美國杜蘭大學法學院合作成立攻讀法學碩士學位獎助金。該校位於美國路易西安納州,是美國50州中唯一一州與台灣一樣採用歐陸法系作為立法基礎。
學術交流基金會執行長李博士表示,「傅爾布萊特-台塑關係企業獎助學金」為第一個美國傅爾布萊特計劃與台灣民間企業合作之獎學金,象徵著現今台灣企業除了關注台灣本土問題,更願意跨出下一步,與國際接軌,非常值得肯定。而「傅爾布萊特法學碩士獎學金」亦是我們爭取台灣學生在國際教育上發光發熱機會的新里程碑。

英語教師赴美進修暨協助華語教學獎助計畫(FLTA)近年為一個新的項目。選送青年英語教師赴美修習一年,並同時擔任華語協同教學活動。獎助內容包含:學費、機票、食宿及生活津貼。

優秀教師計畫將贊助中小學資深教師至印地安那大學研修一學期、分享教學經驗,並完成一項專案。

學術交流基金會 (Fulbright Taiwan/FSE)
係美國與世界150個國家或組織共同推動傅爾布萊特計畫
(Fulbright Program) 單位之一,其中有50個單位是由雙邊政府共同成立的獨立運作基金會,學術交流基金會即是其一。半世紀以來,學術交流基金會提供約1,300位美國學人及1,600位台灣的學人進行雙向交流。
台灣傅爾布萊特交換計畫分別由美國政府透過美國在台協會(AIT)、美國國務院(DOS),及台灣政府透過外交部(MOFA)、教育部(MOE)、宜蘭、高雄、金門、台中、台北及台東縣市政府共同支持。本計畫於1947年成立於南京,歷經數年動盪,於1957年重新於台灣啟動,歷經1964年正規化並於 1979年更名,學術交流基金會持續於台灣推行各項傅爾布萊特學人交換計畫。基金會在董事會的監督下,旨在透過國際交流來推廣「給世界多一點點知識,少一點點衝突」這項願景。董事會由5位美國董事及5位臺灣董事,共同監管此一合法之國際型非營利組織。
